Helmets are an issue in bike share operations that work in countries which have mandatory helmet laws. Below is a PDF with a possible solutions. I am still finding out more details (is it legal etc) but it would be great to get peoples feedback on these helmets. What do you thing? would you buy one? is there the possibility to brand it and give it away (advertises pay for them)?

Look forward to hearing peoples feedback!

Hey Brodie I see the bike hire scheme has just commenced in London are they required to wear helmets? I think there was an article in the paper about it a couple of days ago.

If that ever passes the standards test then there is something wrong with the standard! Ridiculous.

How about making car drivers wear helmets as they receive far more head injuries than cyclists.

I like it. I find it hard to subscribe to the compulsory helmet perspective anyway.

Re Tracy – no requirements for helmets in London (nor Paris). The bicycle movement has resisted so far.

The last research I heard the London Cycling Campaign (a peak body) cite, told of decreased caution from drivers for cyclists wearing helmets (compared with those without) – the measure being the distance drivers placed between car and bike – the moral being that if someone’s wearing a helmet then they’re already safe. Read into what you will.

I like it. I’d wear it. It’s better looking than (well different to) the dorky one I’m wearing now :)

(Though I’d make some darker coloured ones though for those who don’t particularly do fluoro…)
