One way Cyclefreo is going to fund its social objectives is through the sale of the Carbon Credits that are generated through each ride of a Cyclefreo bike. This is a service offered through CityRyde who are a US company that specialises in bike sharing systems.
From the CityRyde Inspire website:
CityRyde Inspire integrates with existing bike sharing back-ends to access the data needed to process Inspire’s proprietary algorithms and certify the carbon credits. Inspire will bring in much needed additional revenue streams for your bike sharing implementation through the sale of carbon credits.
Each ride one of our customers takes will generate a certain amount of carbon credits; these can then be pooled and sold at certain levels to companies that are not carbon neutral.
